MANDATE
The professional Ethics Committee was set up by Senate with the following Terms of Reference:
Evaluate the performance of staff in the discharge of their responsibilities in accordance with university regulations.
Receive and investigate all cases of victimization of students byuniversity staff and misconduct of university staff.
Make appropriate recommendation, after due investigation by the Disciplinary Committee on issues of staff misconduct
Make other recommendations that will enhance high ethical standards and performance in all university activities.
MODUS OPERANDI
Use evaluation form to assess the performance of staff in carrying out their responsibilities.
Provide complaints/suggestion boxes in strategic locations.
Use overt and covert methods to obtain information and investigate all genuine cases of unethical conducts with full protection of the identity of all informants or complainants.
OVERALL GOAL AND CORE VALUES
To ensure that the behavior and actions of staff and students of the University of Port Harcourt are guided by high ethical standards anchored on the core values of honesty, integrity, fairness, impartiality, loyalty and faithfulness.

Ethics is an obligation of a moral nature which is voluntarily accepted as a code of conduct or behavior by communities of professionals. The driving principles include; Autonomy, Beneficence, Non-malfeasance, Justice, Fidelity, Paternalism.
NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THIS CODE OF CONDUCT BY ANY STAFF OR STUDENT WILL ATTRACT APPROPRIATE SANCTION!
